I dunno, this type of science has many practical applications. Take for nuclear physics. It may have seemed abit far fetched 100yrs agao and very impractical, but now we are almost able to make clean energy outta sea water. The theory sounded dubios at best. Also, the method used to create this new universe means that we can't actually do anything with it, cos once it is made, it ceases to exist here.
