Rapid everything movement

Well, Justine, that’s sort the best one liner I could come up with.

I know, I know it’s two lines.

But it has a geeky pun about sleep-walking, I figured you might like that.

Though I’m not that sure anymore…

I’ve been re-reading through everyone’s comments this last week, trying to figure out what sort of people you are… it’s not easy based purely on text. I realised that I know so little about you, especially considering I chat to some of you on, at least, a weekly basis.

And so, I have questions for all of you, and I want answers…

…please… and feel free to elaborate at will.

  1. Your top two films of all time, what are they?
  2. Tell me two songs you like, and two you don’t.
  3. Please, confirm the month of your birth.
  4. What is your super-power?
  5. What is your ‘kryptonite’?
  6. Tea?
  7. You’re trapped in a room and you have to eat your way out. Luckily, the walls are made of….?
  8. Board games or video games?
  9. Did you pack this yourself?
  10. You have a den, you have a password, what is it?
  11. Are you a morning person?

OK that’s it grilling over.

Thanks Justine.

    1. “The Adventures of Baron Munchausen” and… actually, I don’t like movies all that much. “The Specials” was the second movie that popped into mind. I like that one, so I’ll list it.

    2. I like “The Night That Paddy Murphy Died” by Great Big Sea and “Tossed Away” by The Heart Throbs. I didn’t want to mention anything by TMBG, BNL, TMJ, TDM, CUSM, or the Pixies since those choices seemed too obvious. I like bands with acronyms. I don’t like “My Love” by Westlife (I had to look up the name… I was just going to say “that whiny song by Westlife” but that would be casting a broad net wouldn’t it) or “Congratulations” by Cliff Richard.

    3. March.

    4. Dog charisma.

    5. “Congratulations” by Cliff Richard.

    6. Yes please.

    7. Communion wafers.

    8. Both, although I am now jonesing for a bit of face to face miniature wargaming.

    9. Yes. I have no-one else to blame.

    10. “I lived in a cake”

    11. Definitely not.

although myself, a mystery? i never would have thought it, but it intrigues me. flattered that you want to know more.

    1. eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, and donnie darko. i LOVE weird movies that dont make a alot of sense and mess with your head and make you think and have little plot. i saw hairspray the other day, hated it with a passion.

    2. i cant choose. i am utterly entirely obsessed with music, and choosing 2 songs would make the rest of them feel bad. generally im an indie type of person and i dont like commercial radio.

Somnambulance! I CRIED TEARS OF LAUGHTER!

    1. This is a difficult choice, but I think I must choose A Clockwork Orange and Evil Dead II.

    2. At the moment I like Till My Head Falls Off by They Might Be Giants and Echoes by Pink Floyd (which is my favorite song of all time). I stopped listening to the radio years ago (mainly because I don’t have a car), so the songs I don’t like are both on commercials that annoy me: Can’t Get You out of My Head by Kylie Minogue and Thnks fr th Mmrs by Fall Out Boy.

    3. August, in fact I share a birthday with Kevin Smith, Butch Patrick (who played Eddie Munster), and Carol O’Connor (who played Archie Bunker).

    4. I have several. My least useful is my ability to communicate with cats…because even though I can talk to them they don’t really do what I say. My most useful is my super eyebrow power, which allows me to control minds and make hilarious faces.

    5. Bad covers of Beatles songs.

    6. No, I only drink the blood of lawn gnomes.

    7. Pepperoni Pizza

    8. Video Games

    9. No. Last night I was visited by three spirits. The first was the Ghost of Christmas Past, who showed me a Christmas from my childhood when I was a much less bitter and cynical person. The second was the Ghost of Christmas Present, who showed me some friends of mine celebrating without me and talking about me behind my back. The third spirit was the Ghost of Christmas Future, who showed me the world I will leave behind me when I die unless I change my miserly ways. Before departing the Ghost of Christmas Future offered to pack my luggage for me and I gladly accepted. When I left the house with the luggage I did happen to notice a conspicuous ticking emanating from the case but I decided it was probably nothing.

    10. Raymond Luxury Yacht, pronounced Throat-Wobbler Mangrove.

    11. That depends: are you referring to morning as in the time of day or morning as relative to a person’s sleep cycle i.e. when someone has just woken up? If it is the former then no, any time the sun is out I am not at my best, but if you mean the latter then yes, because I am usually in a fine mood after waking up from a refreshing 12 hours of sleep.

I’m still laughing about this one. Somnambulance! So good!

I showed it to a friend, who read it, laughed, then turned to me and said: “If a Chinese spins in circles really fast, is he dis-Oriented?” To which I replied:” If a European wrecks his car, was it Occidental?” And the conversation just when down hill from there.

    On to the Meme!

    1. All the films mentioned so far have been wonderful (especially yours, The Great Joe). To them, I must add Un Chien Andalou, and The Separation, by Robert Morgan. (You never said they had to be long films!)

    2. How about bands, can we do bands? How about albums, that’s more specific, and honestly is the work for many bands, with the song being only a piece. I like Apocalyptica’s Cult, and Pink Floyd’s Meddle. I don’t like… well, I don’t know any names of the albums I don’t like, because I don’t buy albums I don’t like. Pop country, and pop rap. Really, as others have already said, pop music in general (unless it’s that good pop music, from back in the day. You know the stuff.)

    3. March! (Pisces, if that’s what you’re looking for. (Seraphine, I think that means something, about the way we should get along, I just don’t remember what. What say we make something up, shall we?))

    4. A brain that remembers the most obscure, inane facts, but never anything that might be useful.

    5. A brain that remembers the most obscure, inane facts, but never anything that might be useful.

    6. And coffee (well, I am an American!), but I prefer tea. I found this great blend a while back that inspired me, and have since been buying bulk loose-leaf and blending my own. Best recipe: Three parts Assam, two parts Keemun, one part Lapsang souchong (or less, this stuff’s potent). Yay tea!

    7. Cheese! But not that crappy over-processed American grossness. I mean like nice, sheep’s milk farmer’s cheese. Or Wensleydale! That’s my favourite.

    8. Board games mostly. Ever played anything from Steve Jackson Games? (Munchkin!)

    9. Again and again… it takes so much longer to get anywhere when you walk. But on the bright-side, the packing is easier if you have to carry it all, because you’ll bring far less.

    10. “Verbum de transmissu”?

    11. Not any way you slice it. I like mornings, so long as they involve big stacks of pancakes, lots of tea or coffee, and don’t start until the after noon.

    5. What is your ‘kryptonite’? Sports, i guess. occassionally people as well. and Arguments. oh, but my main one has to be-getting yelled at. if a teacher yells at me i start crying. i’m so sad *rolls eyes*

    6. Tea? Earl grey, milky with lost of sugar. or, coffee with too much sugar to taste it but all the caffeiney goodness.

    7. You ‘re trapped in a room and you have to eat your way out. First of all, a correction: Thanks must go to T Campbell and Franzy, for pointing out that I incorrectly spelled a made up word. They are right though, and so I have corrected it.

It’s been great reading your responses. I’m not sure if it’s helped me learn anything more about you other than you all have a keen sense of humour.

My favourite answers mostly belong to the superpower/kryptonite group. Now I’ll have some pretty strange mental images when I think about you all.

For completism, I have answered the questions myself:

    1. Your top two films of all time, what are they?
Two? OK. ‘The Princess Bride’, ‘American Splendor’ and ‘The People Under The Stairs’.

    2. Tell me two songs you like, and two you don’t.
Like: Fancy claps (Wolf Parade) and Crazy Horses (Osmonds)
Don’t like: Living on a Prayer (Bon Jovi) and The Final Countdown (Europe)

    3. Please, confirm the month of your birth.
Also, May… There’s quite a few of us here. Whilst I certainly don’t believe in starsigns, I do believe that the season you are born in has an influence on your personality. Children born in the colder months tend to stay inside more and therefore develop stronger bonds with people and objects. Thosse born in the summer months tend to be outside more and so bond with nature and ideas. It’s not science, just a whimsical theory really.

    4. What is your super-power?
    X-ray hearing

    5. What is your ‘kryptonite’?
Honey-covered spiders that smell of stale bread

    6. Tea?
    One sugar, plenty of milk

    7. You ‘re trapped in a room and you have to eat your way out. Luckily, the walls are made of….?

Deep-fried chilli peppers stuffed with cream cheese. I wouldn’t make it out alive, but I’d die happy.

    8. Board games or video games?
We play both kinds here, but if I had to choose, it would be board.

    9. Did you pack this yourself?
Crumpled shirts, empty sandwich wrappings, a mouldy orange… yes officer, it appears I did.

    10. You have a den, you have a password, what is it?
    Zombieshenanigans

    11. Are you a morning person?
