To do list, item #1:
Try spending your whole day talking in metaphors. At least try to use as many as you can during conversation… especially with strangers and colleagues.
Points are rewarded for flair, inappropriateness, comedy and reaction.

To be quite different (like a metaphor speaking)
and obdurate (like gum high on Madonna), I shall
instead speak in similes (like a fish limping)
for it gives the impression (like a lamp squeezing
powdered grapes) of brilliance (like a bucket sud
on fleshy glow-roids). Tie that like a hungry pickle!
I don’t get this one. One of those glasses is neither half empty nor half full…
Landing a plane is not really a glass half full/empty type situation:
On the bad side, we’ve crashed, sustained lethal injuries and are writihing in agony as our near dead carcasses char in the heat… but on the good side we won’t be spending the afternoon waiting for out luggage to turn up.
Whilst there is a metaphor behind that picture, it’s more to do with balancing a tray of drinks whilst making your way through a party than it is about half-full glasses.
Being aussie, I figured that it was meaning “land the bloody plane and then you can drink”.
I figure that if you can’t drink and drive, likely, you can’t drink and fly, and pilots I know (I know a few) like to drink.
I wouldn’t be too reliant on the tower for giving instructions. They’ve been known to be wrong before. Sometimes they’ll order a plane to land on the same runway some other plane is taking off from. Which results in the writhing in agony Adam mentioned. Times two. Cheery thought.
Today’s comic was even more brilliant than usual.
