Midnight tycoon

Sometimes I wonder if my fondness for burning the midnight oil is increasing my carbon footprint.

And whilst I mostly make that statement in jest, the truth is that working by electrical light can’t be ideal, environmentally.

And so: Go to bed, get some sleep, save the world.

    I don’t believe in sleep.
Actually, I do. But lately I just haven’t really been able to muster up any enthusiasm for lying in my bed unconscious for any reasonable period of time. It’s just such a waste of my life.

I hear you… I go through phases, and sometimes trying to get some quality sleep is harder than it sounds.

My enthusiasm for lying unconcious however, grows with my lack of sleep.

Yes, I would agree with that. After about a week of five hours per night, I start really looking forward to unconsciousness. Mainly because I’m only barely conscious the rest of the time.

I did a questionare/survey thingy once and one of the questions was regarding this topic.
It apparently has a significant effect on things, but I highly doubt it. A light bulb doesn’t use very much electricity compared to things like fridges, computers, etc that will be running all day or regardless of the time of day.

I’m a night person, I like to be awake at night and morning, I find the middle of the day and arvo to be dull.

I thought I had insomnia for a long time. Turns out my clock is set to sleep at 4am, wake up at noon.

I find that I get my best work done in the AM, either by getting up early in the morning or staying up all night. I’m not sure why the afternoon and evening are so unproductive, but there you go.

The wee hours of the morning have always been my most productive time. Piss on the environment, I refuse to sleep during the night when there’s so much work to be done unfettered by the sunshine and chirping birds.

Paradoxically, though I am a champion at sleep deprivation, I love sleep. It’s the greatest. But it’s much better if I’m collapsing at 9:00 AM after a full night’s work when everyone else is just getting going.

I love early morning, too. Around 3-6 AM is probably my favorite time of day. Only I like getting up early for that time more than staying up and sleeping afterwards.

Me too, only all my friends are night people. So I have to choose between a social life and…well, morning quietude, when I have to deal with my parents anyway.

Wait, you have to deal with parental units at 3-6 AM? that’s harsh.

My mother gets up at six and any time before then I’m not allowed in the kitchen. So, essentially, if I want to be a night owl, I don’t eat.

*cross fingers* Hopefully I’ll have a job soon, so I can save up to move.

Ah, I’m just the opposite. That time is so much nicer if I’ve stayed up for it: it’s like the reward for all that wakefulness.

You aren’t seriously suggesting I turn off my computer?
I sleep better on my keyboard now than with a pillow.

and that’s how you get the dreaded ‘letter face’.

Maybe if you get a new teddy bear, Easca,
you will be more enthusiastic in bed…

Burning the midnight oil for some is a necessity, not a luxury. It’s the times we live in.

Ah sleep. A way to commit suicide without the consequences.

Okay so that’s what happens when I’m in a Bad Place.

I like to sleep. It’s nice. Especially when I can snuggle with someone. ^_^

      I second the snuggling!
