I’d say love is more of a very loud, rather conspicuous killer.
Shooting someone in the head is even quicker.
Also, carbon monoxide poisoning gives you a bit of a headache so you wouldn’t feel comfortable.
Oooh. I’m such a stickler for detail.
Or something. Haha.
I can’t remember where I first heard the line “He would have been perfect, if he’d only stop that annoying, incessant inhaling and exhaling all the time.”
Perhaps I said it. I rather doubt it, though. It’s far too clever.
so, ben and i just had a huge argument as to whether carbon monoxide had a triple bond or not. i didnt think you would be wrong, but i was convinced it would be double for some reason? thank god i have a day off school tomorrow. i need to learn my dot diagrams. that was a really terrible mistake.
Justine and I had an arguement about CO just then.
I won. (actually I thought it was a single bond, oops)
I thought CO was painless, hence why it is used for euthenising animals.
Also, our safety officer warned us of the hazards of it. Said we wouldn’t know we were dieing from breathing it in, couldn’t smell it and would just feel tired, woozy, then dead.
Apparently H2S is a fun way to go.
We cary detectors to warn us of gas hazards.
Methane is the big one, highly explosive in that environ. The detector goes off at the slightest amount.
I want to fart on one and see what happens (yes, I am mature).
Justine, Ben, there’s no need to argue… you’re both right… and wrong.
Carbon monoxide has three resonance structures, and whilst the triple bond is the convention, you can indeed get a single and a double bond version.
Ben and Philippa – it’s a tricky one, whilst some people experience ‘flu like symptoms and headaches (especially children) in some cases you just feel a little sleepy.
…and Ben, test that detector and if any catches you, just say that you’re ‘calibrating’.
I might do it today if I can summon the gas, alfalfa sprouts on the lunch menu, so maybe in luck there.
Tho, I have to point out that this test has some hazards. Letting off gas in what is essentially a confined space can cause problems.
First. Heh heh.

It *sounds* like something you’d say ;¬)

aha, i was going for the double bond so yay!

I find I much prefer the smell of chloroform, as far as poisons go.
