Mr M’s birthday card
I don’t have time to draw a comic tonight – I’ve been making a birthday card, so I’ll let you see that instead.
The top cell is the outside, the bottom one the inside.
It’s for the fantastic Mr Marchant, who happens to be scoring half a century today.
Not only is he possibly the funniest person I know, but he also happens to write some rather fine books.
He also happens to be my father-in-law, so I would have to say that though wouldn’t I?

I wonder if his friends will give him a cake with 50 candles, or just stick 50 wicks into his face…? That’s an uncanny depiction of his nose, by the way.
Mike’s nose – not easy to draw, since you can’t draw it at all like a normal nose… actually it isn’t at all like a normal nose, it’s more of a nipple on his face, with holes in it.
lol
Nice card.
*chorus* Happy birthday to you, happy BIRTHday toooo you…
Wait, you just had a b’day, Adam just made a b’day card, all this leads me to believe that you are Adam’s father-in-law.
Hmmmmm
Were you ever going to tell me?
I am hurt and insulted by your failure to disclose the truth.
*hhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmmpppppppp*
The guy drawn in the bottom panel reminds me of Maynard, maybe I have been listening to way to much Tool this weekend?
Seriously, would you go to MJ’s party if you were invited?
Would you go to any major celebrity party?
I would, probably, just so I could pick up, but I don’t think I would feel comfortable with the cameras.
maynard, lol, never thought of that…
As for Mikey, probably not, unless he could guarantee the following –
1. There would be no children there, you know, under his bed or anything.
2. That he would sing a live version of Billy Jean, just for me
3. That the lovely Jermaine Jackson would be also there.
And with regard to celebrity parties… I get invited to them all the time… that is if by ‘celebrity’ you mean ‘my friends’ and by ‘invited’ you mean ‘gatecrash’.
This is great stuff Adam, and love the site. Terrific likeness of Arthur C Clarke, by the way… Good to meet you in Presteigne…
Thanks Bob, it was great to meet you too (though technically it was the second time we’d been introduced). Hopefully, it won’t be another decade before we meet again, though I think it may be at another Marchant function.
I didn’t think Mr Clarke was so fond of pies.
Yes, but what? Elevation to the peerage would be my guess…
It’s an odd boy who isn’t fond of pies…
Ha, ‘Sir’… I just know if that happened I’d be required to call him that (he insists on ‘pops’ at the moment).
“It’s an odd boy who isn’t fond of pies…” – That really should be the slogan for ‘The North’.
