Black trousers, white shirt
We’re celebrating tonight – It’s my birthday, I have not died for 28 years in a row.
So, I’m just about to go out and see some friends, talk rubbish and drink a fair bit of my favourite tipple (they actually sent me a card this year).
The plan is to last long enough into the night to toast another reason to be cheerful – A great friend of The Flowfield Unity, Roo, is getting married at 11.30am EST tomorrow… which by my calculations is 4.30am here.
Unfortunately, this being the internet, it’s unlikely that you’ll actually see either of us tonight or tomorrow to join in the celebrations in person… And so I’d like you to join me, at whatever time is convenient to you, with whatever drink you prefer (points will be awarded for originality and style), to toast our friend, his marriage, and his happiness.
Chin chin.

A stout Happy Birthday to you!!!
Here’s wishing you a continued
string of successful living, and
a great big pinch for good luck.
Happy birthday! Here’s to another 28 years of not dying!
Happy birthday, you old git.
I wasn’t planning on alcoholising this evening, but I’ll stick a shot of JD in my next cup of tea for you.
Happy birthday, and enjoy the Guinness.
I may have to break out the homebrew apple cider for the toast. Here’s hoping it’s not vinegar by now.
Happy birthday, you young whippersnapper. I think I said that already but I can’t be sure because my memory’s going.
And congratulations, Roo. Welcome to the club. You’re one of us now.
Finally, happy birthday Adam.
Happy Birthday Adam.
Here, my friends also celebrate their birthdays as aniversaries of not dieing.
Congratulations Roo, I wish you all the best on this day.
I hope your honeymoon is great (re: Seraphine’s comment).
Wow big day for the TFFU community.
Happy birthday! I do believe my RSS reader called me telepathically to check my comic feeds knowing the significance of the day.
Here’s to not dying a lot more times, cheers! *goes off in search of something to drink*
Happy birthday and congratulations to Roo…
*raises glass which happens to be here*
well if these arent excuses for an underage drink, what is?
im trying to think of a word that covers both of these events, so i can say it to both adam and roo at once. the best i can come up with is wheee! a general expression of happiness.
so, wheee!
btw, wayne, i like your square thingy.
Happy Birthday Adam!!
My birthday present to you is-ordering your book
finally got Dad to lend me his credit card :p
Hope you’re having a fantastic day, and remember-always have a midlife crisis in the week after your birthday, just in case you die in 28 years
Also, Good Luck to Roo and Sarah! I hope you enjoy your wedding Roo.
Aww, thanks.
I’m back and I’m sober now… adding an extra year to your age can do that.
Oddly enough, Cocoon is on TV, the irony.
Happy birthday! Sorry I didn’t get around to reading this comic until a couple days after. My own birthday was the first of June (I’m 27; we’re almost twins).
And in reference to your post about leaving the country… my husband and I have been toying with the idea of moving from the USA to Canada, but it would take huge amounts of work if we wanted to be able to live there legally for a long period of time. There are so many hoops to jump through, so much paperwork just to get a long-term visa. At least that’s what it seems like from websites we’ve read.
I’m a bit disturbed by this northward movement in the Americas. Mexicans who can’t stand the way they’re treated in Mexico flee to the USA, and here in the USA we flee to Canada. Where do Canadians go if they get sick of their country? The North Pole?
We go to somewhere in East Asia.
Wooooot!
Just got back from all the wedding craziness. It was good times.
Happy birthday Adam (like Joseph, I’m thinking I’ve said that already…?) and thanks for the well-wishing. I hope it wasn’t too much of a burden to stay up so late for that toast.
Thanks to everyone for the well-wishing! It was a good wedding, and we DID have a very nice stout at the after-party: Bluegrass Brewing Company’s Bourbon stout, aged in old bourbon barrels. Really good, I recommend it, if you can get it. I’ll post pictures somewhere, once I get them back and onto the computer, if anyone’s interested.
We are interested, pictures are always good… especially since our imaginations have been eroded by television…
No burden that… staying up late to drink… more of a challenge… or a goal… does it count if I brought the toast up again later?*
Congratulations – that sounds like some rare stout.
*(I didn’t)
Hey, another nutsoid Geminian. Not that we believe in that stuff, eh?
Happy belated biffday mate.
