I’m sat here chomping my way through some sashimi (thanks Em) and I’ve just noticed that I’ve been following an aquatic theme for the last couple of days. I think it’s because for the last few months the weather here has been so bad that I’m seriously considering growing gills in a Kevin Costner/Waterworld-like fashion.

I do like animals that, for whatever reason, ‘pretend’ to be other creatures. It’s one of those great quirks of evolution that you could either spend all of your time evolving biological weapons, painting yourself bright colours and earning yourself a reputation or you could just simply make yourself look like an animal that has already done that.

Humans do it too. The difference I find between having a shaved head or long curly locks is quite profound; with long hair, the elderly tend to quite like me but I’m susceptible to the aggression of idiots, whereas with a quick shave I alienate the elderly, but get far less aggravation from everyone else.

That said, if I really want people to leave me alone, I think half-and-half is the way to go, or patchy like mange… If you want people to stand up and give you their seat on the bus, this is the only haircut you’ll need.

It may have been my outlandish hair, or perhaps my knack of taking things apart, but my parents were sure that I would end up as a mad scientist… which I nearly did.

Luckily, I was saved from creating terrible minature monsters in the lab by the video games industry, where I made terrible pixilated mosters on screen.

And now I’m drawing them on paper.

Something tells me that I was always meant to create these horrible things.

Some research suggests that smart people cheat more frequently than not so smart people.

I do like the idea of doping tests at scrabble championships and spelling bees…

Mathletes – must be one of my favourite geeky terms.

Or it might be something else, but it will happen one day, and I have a sneaky feeling that whatever it is that makes us extinct, we’ll be responsible for it somehow.

I’d also like to dedicate this comic in rememberance of one of my favourite authors, Kurt Vonnegut – He’s with Isaac now.

Evil is when you prevent children from learning theories and ideas just because they threaten you beliefs.

Evil is when you deny them access to textbooks, or part of textbooks, just because they contain words that you don’t agree with.

We all want to know the truth.
